Couple of anthropomorphic sculptures in Afzelia wood by Begga D’Haese (1934 – 2023). Younger sister of Reinhoud D'Haese who was part of the nursery of the Cobra group in the 1950s and Roel D'Haese who is considered the greatest Flemish surrealist sculptor, Begga had to make a name for himself. From 1969 she start working on monumental sculptures, from which @igmarstuer and @pschantiques offer today three original and unique examples. The three are signed on the bottom. Carved in Afselia wood and resting on a base in blue stone. Around 1980. Dimensions of works smaller piece 195 x 21 x 13,5 larger piece 195 x 30 x12 Only available as a pair

Very large abstract wooden sculpture with solid sculpted lines. Those lines are splitting the massive wooden trunk in 2 parts which gives this sculpture an abstract and strong design. The pure wood and wood grains gives this sculpture a very organic character. The sculpture is signed and was made in the early 1990' s. Part of the studio collection of Roland LAVIANNE (1948-2022). This collection was acquired in collaboration with STUER and PSCHANTIQUES. Simplifying the features in the extreme, Roland LAVIANNE develops a powerful play on volumes, shapes and lines, using the light as a key construction material.

Very large wooden sculpture of a human being leaning backwards against a tree. This sculpture has a beautiful patina and has some nice artistic details like some dots of thick red paint added by the artist. The artwork dates from the early 1990' s and is signed by the artist.
